To provide native Daufuskie islanders with opportunities for economic development, and the preservation of its Gullah culture, land and other natural resources indigenous to Daufuskie Island.
The Daufuskie Island Foundation was founded in July 1976 to address several of the unique issues that affect the native Gullah Geechee Community. Key organizational programs include: The Annual Daufuskie Day celebration, the Daufuskie Connection Banquet, A Tax Relief Program to support natives in preserving their land, scholarships for disadvantaged youth and Native Island Cemetary management.
